At BlizzCon 2019, along with Overwatch 2 and other games, Diablo 4 was announced – the new part of the legendary series from Blizzard, which is due to be released on Battle.net, PC and consoles. The developers promised to return to the roots, add gloom and hardcore, taking into account the criticism of the cartoonishness of the previous part of the game. Three years have passed since then, and no new details about the project have emerged. Unless five classes of characters were announced: Barbarian, Enchantress, Druid, Rogue and Necromancer. Meanwhile, in August of this year, the schedule of releases and announcements of Activision Blizzard leaked to the network. From it it became known that pre-orders for Diablo 4 will start on December 8, and now the date of the release itself has appeared.
During the XboxEra podcast, Windows Central editor Jez Corden, citing his own verified sources, revealed that Diablo 4 will be released in April 2023, but Blizzard has not yet confirmed the exact date. He also confirmed that pre-orders will begin next month. These will include various digital editions and a premium collector’s edition on disc with bonuses for fans. According to sources, Blizzard is planning a massive marketing campaign for Diablo 4 that will kick off with The Game Awards 2022 event, where a trailer for the game will be revealed. Jez Corden also revealed that Diablo 4’s open beta will begin in February 2023.
Microsoft is currently in the process of acquiring Activision Blizzard for $69 billion. The company has previously said it aims to close the deal by summer 2023, so there is a possibility that Diablo 4 could be on Xbox Game Pass in time for the first season to launch towards the end of the summer.
