According to online sources, Zoom, a videoconferencing company, is developing its own email client and calendar. It is assumed that the launch of these services will help turn the company’s platform into a full-fledged competitor to Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.

Zoom’s desire to develop new services is understandable, since the growth of the video conferencing platform has slowed since the easing of restrictive measures caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Calendar and email are heavily used as scheduling tools, so having native services will help Zoom integrate more deeply into companies that already use a video conferencing platform.
On the other hand, Google and Microsoft are trying to squeeze Zoom in this segment, so a lot of effort will have to be made to fully compete. Even Google, with its suite of hugely popular free tools like Gmail and Google Docs, took years to wrest corporate market share from Microsoft. Few companies can afford to join the fight in this segment, let alone win real market share.
Zoom officials have so far refrained from commenting on the launch of the mentioned services. According to the source, they may be presented to the general public at the upcoming Zoomtopia conference, which will be held in November this year.
