The 2022 E7HQ series is Hisense’s mid-range QLED TV. These are models with good contrast, impressive black levels and stereo sound. In addition to modern technology, the design of Hisense E7HQ will also impress all movie lovers. The easy-to-understand and fast-to-navigate VIDAA OS platform takes your TV experience to the next level.
The TV is equipped with the latest Dolby Vision technology, which uses all the intelligent power of the processor to provide a perfect picture in a room with any lighting at any time of viewing. In the Hisense 55E7HQ 4K HDR TV review, we’ll take a look at all the new features to see if it’s worth choosing.
Hisense E7HQ review
Design
The appearance of the Hisense 55E7HQ TV does not violate any design conventions, not differing from its predecessor E76GQ . Thin dark frames do not interfere with their presence while viewing, especially in the dark. The lower bezel is twice as thick and features the Hisense logo. Widely spaced legs confidently keep the TV from rocking.
Note that in the Hisense E7HQ 65-inch model, the legs can be reinstalled to a narrower position, thereby expanding the choice of possible TV furniture options. A trapezoidal protrusion below the bottom bezel houses the TV’s infrared sensor, far-field microphone array (in some regions), microphone mute switch, and Google Assistant LED.
It is possible to mount the TV on the wall using a VESA 200 x 300 bracket. But keep in mind that the 55E7HQ TV has a thickness of about 8 cm. Perpendicular to the case, only the analog video input, closed with a special cover, “looks” at it.
Image quality
Hisense E7HQ TV has a resolution of 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) and uses QLED Quantum Dot technology. In combination with the Hi-View Engine, which uses artificial intelligence to improve the image and HDR support to increase the contrast, it gives a good result. Namely – a clear, sharp screen with bright colors, pure whites and deep blacks. For a TV in the middle price category, closer to the entry level, it exceeds all expectations.
Colors look accurate and natural, whether you’re watching nature movies or dramas. Although, admittedly, the 250 nits HDR brightness isn’t as high as in more expensive models. There is no adaptive brightness to automatically adjust the screen settings according to the lighting conditions in the room. This way you will get the best viewing experience on a cloudy day or in the evening.
When it comes to picture modes, the E7HQ has a lot to choose from. These are HDR Day, HDR Night, HDR Dynamic, HDR Sports or Auto. Selecting HDR Day makes it more visible in the sun, but also makes the colors a bit oversaturated, while HDR Night makes them too dull. Most people will choose HDR Standard because it does the job quite well.
There is also an auto mode which is just as good and uses Alphonso Video AI to improve the image depending on the type of content on the screen. But to do this, it will collect data about what you watch and use it to improve targeted advertising. Not everyone will be so interested.
Smart TV
Vidaa U 5.0 interface is definitely one of the best TV operating systems. It is designed by Hisense, so it fits very well with Hisense E7HQ QLED TV. While you won’t get many complex features, it’s very intuitive and easy to navigate. Your apps are clearly laid out in the tile feeds, and you’ll also be able to see a list of recommendations.
There is access to all the best streaming services including Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, as well as iVi, ÖKKO and Megogo. A remote control is included to control the TV. Its very easy to use. There’s a button that takes you straight to the Vidaa U home page, as well as buttons that give you quick access to some streaming services, including Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, and Freeview Play.
Another way to control the TV is by voice. You can use it with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Vidaa Voice. To activate, just press the microphone button on the TV remote control. It can be used not only to control the TV, but also as an ordinary smart speaker. And it will also work with the rest of your smart home.
This means you can use the E7H TV to control the lights or set reminders for yourself. However, you won’t be able to do it hands-free: you’ll have to press and hold a button on the remote every time. Note that for such a smooth operation of the Android interface, much more processing power is required. Therefore, the competitor TCL C735 , for example, lags behind in this regard.
Motion processing and game mode
Variable Refresh Rate is a technology that allows you to change the screen refresh rate depending on the content being displayed. This can result in a smoother image with less motion blur as the refresh rate will be increased when displaying fast moving content.
Hisense 55E7HQ is compatible with VRR (40…60Hz) technology, which means it can use this feature if the content supports it. The TV has a response time of 8.5ms at 60Hz. The output latency (input lag) is only 20ms, which is pretty low. You won’t notice any lag when playing video games or watching movies.
Gamers will appreciate the inclusion of Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Automatic Low Latency Mode (ALLM), which make gaming on the E7HQ smooth and responsive. Despite the presence of HDMI 2.1 ports (depending on the region), 4K@120 content will still be displayed at 60 Hz, as this is determined by the TV panel itself.
Sound quality
For most types of TV broadcasts, the sound will be loud and intelligibility is very good, though not as rich as a standalone soundbar. The total power of the 2.0 Ch audio system is 16W. The E7HQ series lacks dynamic range and doesn’t move around the room very well, so it’s not suitable for watching blockbusters and action movies.
The sound modes of this TV include Standard, Theater, Music, Speech, Late Night, Sports and Auto. As with the image, most people will probably choose either “Standard” or “Auto”. But if you’re having a movie night, you might want to switch to Theater because it enhances the surround sound effect to some extent. Still, we would recommend buying a separate soundbar to improve the sound.
Connections
So, we have already said that the Hysens E7HQ TV has three HDMI 2.0 ports (one with eARC ), with the exception of some localizations, where version 2.1 ports are indicated. Which does not affect the operation of the TV in any way, since it will display 120 Hz content through the frame. There are 2 USB ports – one version 2.0, the other version 3.0.
Two antenna sockets allow you to connect terrestrial and satellite antennas. There is a digital optical audio output and a minijack for connecting headphones. The list of physical connectors is completed by a CI slot and a LAN port. Wireless, as always, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Conclusion
Hisense E7HQ is a great choice for those who want an affordable 4K QLED TV. You get a colorful, crisp image, although the HDR brightness could be better. And the design of the TV will be a nice addition to your room. It is a pity that the sound is not quite up to par, but this is easily solved by connecting a separate sound bar.
