The next firmware update for LG’s GX and CX OLED TVs and parts of LG’s NanoCell and LCD models will seriously upgrade their user interface. All of these 2020 models will get the full-screen menu introduced in 2021 – designed to be much more user-friendly and adorned with a sponsored content panel.
The full-screen webOS interface in question has arrived on the LG G2 OLED and C2 OLED TVs. They are running webOS 6. At the same time, the announced update, apparently, will not change the version of the operating system. If only because users are promised the opportunity to return to the familiar panel by changing the “main screen style” in the settings menu.
The announced update will be received by LG 2020 OLED TVs – ZX, GX, CX and BX, 2020 NanoCell – NANO90, NANO85, NANO80, and 2020 LG 4K TVs – UN85, UN80, UN74, UN73, UN71. As for the use of the latest version of webOS 2023, available on LG G3 OLED and C3 OLED TVs, it will not be installed on TVs of past years in the near future.
The ongoing updates, according to LG, are part of the company’s commitment to consumer support. According to her, “LG has always been committed to supporting our TVs long after the consumer has purchased them.” The announced firmware update, according to LG, “should improve the usability and navigation of the user interface.” And, no less important, to leave the consumer the freedom of choice.
